Tree Street Kids, book 3
If getting tackled is the best way to make new friends, that’s okay with Jack Finch. After all, starting fifth grade at a new school is even rougher than pee wee football. But how can he join the Lions and help Ellison build the Most Epic Bookmobile Bike Ever? Jack devises the perfect game plan–until he fumbles it with the most epic fail ever and a game day disaster.

What inspired me to write Lions to the Rescue? First, my own love of books, bookmobiles around the world, and this photo in the office of Moody Publishers. In the 1890s, the goal of D. L. Moody was to sell Christian books at prices that were affordable for everyone, even the poor and imprisoned. The books were sold by booksellers (called “colporters”) riding on horseback or traveling around Chicago and other parts of the country in horse-drawn wagons.

REVIEWS & INTERVIEWS
“In this volume, school is back in session. While Roger and Ruthie attend the local public school, Jack and Midge are enrolled at Ellison’s Christian school. Jack wants to play football. Ellison wants to join Library Club. Eventually, they do both—and what unfolds is a thoughtful, funny, and deeply sincere story of what it means to belong.” –Sara Masarik, The Plumfield Moms | Full Review
“As a 21st Century Packhorse Librarian, I was especially delighted to discover a section in this book highlighting the legacy of the original Packhorse Librarians. This piece of history is near and dear to my heart, and seeing it included in a story for young readers was a true joy. Even more meaningful, Amanda Cleary Eastep isn’t just the author of this wonderful series—she is an official 21st Century Packhorse Librarian herself.” –Kirsten Crawford Turner, 21st Century Packhorse Librarians | Full Review

Are these Christian books? What does that mean? I’m a Christian and write from that perspective. Some of the characters come from that faith tradition, while others don’t. All the stories are told through the point of view of 10-year-old Jack Finch. He processes life as any kid would, thinking about what he believes and how it matters to his small world.
