Tree Street Kids, book 6
Jack Finch is seeing stars.
And it has nothing to do with Christmas. Snowball wars are being waged against the Tree Street Kids, and Jack has taken a hit to the eye from one of Buzz Rublatz’s polar projectiles. Jack plans the perfect defense–the Abominable Snowman-ator. But building your greatest invention is tough when you’re also practicing for the starring role in the school nativity play. One cold, starry night, a neighborhood catastrophe disturbs the peacefulness of the snow-covered streets and twinkling lights. What’s that terrible orange glow down the block? And does Buzz know more about it than he’s telling? Jack is determined to find out. But, first, he needs a Christmas miracle. Will Jack find room in his heart to welcome an unexpected addition to the stage and his home?

“Amanda Cleary Eastep’s Tree Street Kids series is a treasure. Written in a warm narrative voice that stirs up images of bike rides among friends, these books introduce young readers to highly-relatable and endearing characters who face sticky challenges, and who must rely on one another–and on their faith in God–to navigate the messiness of life.
This series is delightful as a read-aloud at any age. Your kids will belly laugh during moments of hilarity, lean in when the suspense mounts, and pause in wonder as Cleary Eastep deftly illustrates the relevance of God’s Word to every peak and valley of life.”

FAQs
What are the themes in Jack and the Red Giant? Friendship, compassion, loving your enemy
What ages are these books for? 8-12

What are some of the science, literature, or history in this book? Do you love gazing up at the night sky? You will learn how to “follow the arc to Arcturus.” The star facts shine in this book! Plus, part of the Christmas story are told as the kids perform a school play.
AND our beloved Ruthie gets her own Polish recipe facts, as her grandmother bakes up a flurry of treats for the holidays.

Do all the books have illustrations? Each book includes several illustrations (and cover art) created by the incredibly talented Aedan Peterson.
Do you have to read the Tree Street Kids series in order? Each story stands alone, but reading them in order is best. Readers will see the friendships grow as the stories progress from June of 1995 through December.
Are these Christian books? What does that mean? I’m a Christian and write from that perspective. Some of the characters come from that faith tradition, while others don’t. All the stories are told through the point of view of 10-year-old Jack Finch. He processes life as any kid would, thinking about what he believes and how it matters to his small world.
